Just heard this on WFAN in New York: 61% of all sports fans would rather use social media to follow their favorite teams and players than waiting to hear about it in traditional media! Even Radio is preaching the gospel of social networking - that's like a Jet fan wishing an Giant fan good luck!

Social Media a MUST have, not a nice to have!!!

We speak to small business owners on a daily basis and we notice 2 things right away 1) They know about Facebook and Twitter etc... and they feel they should probably be involved to grow their business
2) They don't have the understanding or time to invest in managing it all so they stay away from it.  They go on with business as usual as they put themselves in greater danger of being passed by, by the competition.

It is like being a Doctor and telling them they need to eat better and go to the gym.  They agree with our diagnosis and advice, but they aren't going to do it because the membership fee is too high, the gym is too far and they love fried chicken.

It is a hard thing to watch to be honest.   The social media uprising over the past 5 years has completely changed the game.  If you are not in the mix, then you are OUT in more ways than you know.   Your competition is slowly stealing market share and you become less relevant.

My recommendation is fight back, speak up and have your voice heard in a meaningful way online.  Prospects will reference your online presence and not having social media connections will actually make most people second guess your business. It sounds crazy, I know...but it is true!
